Does Covington look to avenge last year’s 48-0 loss to Rummel? Lions head coach Greg Salter says no, because it “is a new year.”

The Lions return 3 starters from a year ago. But, Covington starts 8 seniors on defense.

In week one, Covington won at Franklinton 49-13. Rummel beat University 28-14 in a game that was suspended Friday and completed Saturday night. Rummel wide receiver JaMarr Chase had four touchdown receptions and 226 receiving yards, both school records.

Head coach Jay Roth said Covington is a different team than the one Rummel faced a year ago.
