Highlights of Friday’s jamboree action between De La Salle and Newman featured on WGNO’s Friday Night Football, presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Newman head coach Nelson Stewart is not concerned about the final score of last week’s scrimmage against Holy Cross.
Newman quarterback Arch Manning kicked off tonight’s scrimmage with a 67-yard pass to Anthony Jones, but from that point on Holy Cross’s size, athleticism, and depth would take over.

The Newman quarterback will not have a press conference, nor apparently do interviews, anytime soon.
Fireworks continued in Uptown New Orleans two days after the Fourth of July as the weekly summer 7-on-7 prep football series concluded at Isidore Newman’s Michael Lupin Field on Wednesday evening.
But these were pyrotechnics of a pigskin nature as Newman’s Arch Manning, Warren Easton’s Keddrick Connelly and Brother Martin’s Clayton Lonardo lit up the sky with a few bombs of their own. (Senior Season, July 2022)
Arch Manning and his Newman Greenies hosted its weekly 7-on-7 summer series at Michael Lupin Field in Uptown New Orleans on Wednesday evening. However, the first games between Newman-Warren Easton and Booker T. Washington-Brother Martin had to be called with 10 minutes remaining due to lightning. (Senior Season, June 2022)
The positive fallout continues for Texas football since Arch Manning committed last Thursday.
Since, nine players have committed to the Longhorns, including three in ESPN’s top 300 in the class of 2023.
The latest to commit is the 43rd-ranked player in the country, wide receiver Johntay Cook from Desoto, Texas.
Uptown New Orleans on a Wednesday night can only mean one thing this summer, high school 7-on-7 football at Isidore Newman’s Michael Lupin Field.
With Pro Football Hall-of-Fame quarterback and former Greenie Peyton Manning looking on from the sideline, along with brother Cooper and Eli, and father Archie Manning from the press box, Newman once again hosted Warren Easton, West Jefferson and Brother Martin on Week 3 of the weekly prep series.
