Double D Meat Company was founded in 1967 by T.S. “Dutch” Stogner, Sr. “Dutch”, as most people knew him, always dreamed of owning his own butcher shop. So in 1967, he moved his wife, Carrie, and family from the big city of New Orleans to the small community of Sun, Louisiana and began custom processing for local farmers.
The old-fashioned sugar-cured hams and bacon became very popular and the business grew. Smoked sausage started off as a by-product from butchering hogs, but quickly became very popular as well. Within a few years, word of Double D Sausage spread and people all over the state of Louisiana began asking for it.
