NEW ORLEANS(WGNO) - New Orleans EMS workers are learning how to treat the injured while responding to an active shooter by practicing on Trauma HAL, a robot so realistic it blinks, simulates breathing, speaks and has seizures.

This robot operates continuously as it is moves from the shooting scene to the ambulance and then the emergency room.

HAL helps EMS workers learn how to diagnose and treat victims using real monitoring and resuscitation equipment in active shooting situations that change minute by minute.

The New Orleans Convention Center played host to the World Expo for EMS training on Tuesday. First responders, including EMTs and police from around the world were welcome to come and train with HAL.
