An award-winning bartender in the heart of the French Quarter is becoming known for her voice as well as her amazing drink mixing skills.Against all odds, Sobou “bar chef”, Abigail Gullo will mix a drink and sing a Phil Collins song just for you.

“My bar is my stage.  I came from a theatrical background, so I always sing.  I started singing to myself and customers seemed to like it, so I started getting louder and louder,” Gullo said.

She said, “Usually at first there’s a little shock and they look at me like what the heck is going on.”

Being a child of the 1980’s…how could she not be a fan of Genesis frontman, Phil Collins?  She even invented a Tom Collins-like gin drink in his honor.

“It’s called a Phil Collins because the gin I use is dutch.  Phil Collins has been married so many times, so now when he goes out, he always goes dutch,”  she jokingly said.

Gullo is no stranger to customer applause.  She’ll even take requests.  If she doesn’t know the lyrics she will look them up on her phone and sing for Sobou’s guests.

And gentlemen…listen up, she’s single.

“It would be really great if I’d meet a nice guy to teach me more about football,”  she said.

Gullo recently took a trip to New York City, where she performed in an interactive Off-Broadway improv play.

In 2010, her margarita was voted, “People’s Choice” during Tales of the Cocktail.

Sobou is located at 310 Chartres street in the W Hotel French Quarter.
