Watch: Gov. Edwards announces vaccinated Louisiana residents have a chance in winning cash prizes


BATON ROUGE, La. (WGNO) — Louisiana Governor John Bell Edwards announced good news for Louisiana residents who are vaccinated.

Throughout July as part of the Shot At A Million campaign, the state is launching a reward to residents who have taken or who choose to get their COVID-19 vaccine.

Adults 18 or older who have taken their first dose may enter to win one of four $100,000 prizes and the grand prize of one million dollars.

Louisianans who are between the ages of 12 and 17 may enter to win one of nine $100,000 scholarships.

Louisiana will have four weekly drawings.

The final grand prize drawing will be on August 4, 2021 which will award a $1 million cash award and five $100,000 scholarships.

Overall awards will total $2.3 million, paid using federal COVID outreach dollars.

Registration for Louisiana’s Shot At A Million lottery begins Monday, June 21, 2021 at noon.

Louisianans who have gotten the vaccine can register online.
