WATCH: Jefferson Parish says curfew still in effect until Friday, Sept. 10

GRETNA, La. (WGNO) — Jefferson Parish officials, led by President Cynthia Lee Sheng, provide Day 10 Hurricane Ida recovery updates at the Wednesday evening press conference in Gretna, La.

Some of the highlights from the media briefing include:

  • Red Cross is managing Jefferson Parish shelter operations
  • Residents in need of assistance will be helped locally
  • Evacuees from Bastrop and Alexandria will be returning
  • Power continues to be restored throughout the parish
  • Curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. is still in effect until Friday, Sept. 10
  • Grand Isle continues its recovery efforts
  • Sand being removed from road on Grand Isle
  • Closed bridge in Lafitte has been re-opened
  • Second Harvest food bank is delivering food in Lafreniere Park
  • Donations still needed, those interested should email donations@jeffparish.net
  • AT&T charging stations and oxygen tank switchout still operational
    • Station 20 – 4110 Hudson Street in Metairie
    • Station 81 – 808 MacArthur Avenue in Harvey
