Louisiana actor Wendell Pierce could barely speak when asked to comment about the flooding in Baton Rouge Monday at LAX. Pierce told TMZ he lost his home, everything he had.

“I lost my house… It’s a private pain,” he said.

The actor was actually coming from Louisiana where torrential rain dumped nearly two feet on the state prompting more than 20,000 evacuations.

In a tweet, Pierce said the flooding reminded him of Hurricane Katrina.

Wendell’s childhood home was also destroyed in Katrina.

On Monday, Wendell tweeted support for those suffering in his community saying, “You will find heirlooms that will have been changed in a way that brings new meaning to them. Inanimate objects brought to life.”
