Watch: Mayor Cantrell gives latest update on Hurricane Ida recovery


NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Mayor Cantrell and local officials held a press conference on day five to update the community on Hurricane Ida’s recovery relief efforts.

In the press conference superintendent, Shaun Ferguson also gave an update regarding looting.

Ferguson said 54 adults were arrested for looting. Four juveniles were also arrested for looting. 14 people have outstanding warrants (adults and juveniles) 118 incidents reported incidents as of Friday.

Ramsey Green, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Infrastructure gave an update for RTA routes. Limited service is now available for some residents on a 50-minute frequency.

Officials encourage residents who evacuated to stay away from the area until power is restored and resources are available to sustain the entire community.
