NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A pair of carjackings last night in the Tall Timbers neighborhood of Algiers ended with one victim standing his ground and another losing her car.

According to New Orleans Police Department reports, a 46 year old man refused to back down when an armed man approached him demanding his car keys just before 8:30 p.m. last night on South Post Oak Avenue.

The victim told the carjacker to “shoot him because he was not giving him his car keys,” according to the NOPD.

The attempted carjacker retreated to his light colored Nissan Altima and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

Just three minutes later in the 3700 block of Red Oak Court, an unidentified 50 year old woman was getting out of her car with her child when an armed man wearing a dark hoodie approached them.

The victim handed over the keys to her 2009 silver Infiniti G37, license plate number TIV 804, and the armed man drove off in it.

Police reports give no indication that the two incidents were carried out by the same person. A black handgun was used in both the attempted and successful carjacking.
