(WGNO) – Louisiana State Police are investigating how and why a small plane was forced to landed in the middle of Interstate-10 around lunchtime Monday. Authorities say the plane landed in the median near mile marker 199, that’s near the parish line between St. John the Baptist and St. James parishes. Right now, investigators are saying the plane experienced mechanical difficulties. No injuries are reported and the interstate was not shut down. State police are asking motorists to avoid the area and take an alternate route due to traffic congestion. We’ll update this breaking news story when more information becomes available.
