Coroner identifies man killed in New Orleans East hotel shooting

On July 6, the New Orleans Coroner identified the victim in this incident as 41-year-old Brian Hayes.

NEW ORLEANS – On Friday afternoon, the NOPD began investigating a homicide that occurred in the 8400 block of I-10 Service Road.

At around 3:30 p.m., Seventh District officers received a call of aggravated battery by shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a 41-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died at the scene.

Later, two other victims, a man and a woman, were reported after they arrived at the hospital by private conveyance.  They both are in stable condition.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify those responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of an autopsy and notification of family.
