NOPD hands out treats and safety tips on Halloween

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans Police Department will hand out bags of Halloween candy to children at local schools and youth programs today.

Officers and NOPD officials will hand out more than 600 reflective bags filled with candy donated by local Walgreens locations.

The students will also receive Halloween safety tips with their treats.

The first candy distribution occurred this morning at KIPP Leadership Primary school on St. Claude Avenue. Candy-toting officers will visit Edward Hynes Charter School in Lakeview, Homer Plessy Community School on Pauger Street, and the Youth Empowerment Project in Central City this afternoon.
