NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – What started as a van on fire in a driveway turned into a four-alarm fire this evening on South Dupre in the Broadmoor area.

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the van fire quickly spread to an abandoned house, then into an occupied home on the other side of the driveway.

Fortunately, the man who lives in that house was not there when the fire started, and firefighters were able to get some of his possessions out of the house.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Witnesses said at one point there were 30 NOFD vehicles on scene.
