DESTREHAN, La. (WGNO) – Louisiana State Police say a 47-year-old Montz man was killed when he collided with another vehicle while riding his motorcycle.
Investigators say that Fredrick Bailey III was riding his Yamaha motorcycle on US61 near East Harding Street in St. Charles Parish when a 2011 Chevy HHR driven by 38-year-old Cliff Williams pulled out of East Harding St. and attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of US61.
Crash investigators say that Bailey laid the bike down while trying to avoid the Chevy but wound up crashing into it on the driver’s side.
Bailey was killed in the collision.
Bailey was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Williams was wearing a seat belt and submitted to a breath test that cleared him of having any alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
The State Police Traffic Fatality unit is still investigating the incident, but impairment does not appear to have played a role in the crash.
