Mignon Faget Ltd. is now selling the “In Gratitude” Amulet Pendant in honor of the 10-year Hurricane Katrina anniversary. On the front of the pendant is a Tibetan symbol for gratitude chosen for the design, as well as light blue to represent water. On the back is the hurricane symbol with the fleur de lis inside. The words, “In Gratitude” are etched in the sterling silver.
“It’s in honor of the people who helped out. We are grateful to all those people who helped us come back after Hurricane Katrina,” Mignon Faget, Owner and Designer, said.
In wearing this piece of jewelry, she wants you to feel thankful towards the people who poured their hearts out to help us recover.
This isn’t the first time Mignon Faget has created Hurricane Katrina remembrance jewelry. As part of the recovery effort, a “Rebirth pin” was created and sold right after the storm, as well as a 1-year anniversary piece. Money from both helped the Creative Alliance of New Orleans (CANO) and the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation (LCEF). In all $239-thousand was raised.
Proceeds from the “In Gratitude” pieces will be donated to Tulane University’s Newcomb Art Museum and The Tulane-Xavier Center for BioEnvironmental Research.
Faget said she wants this Hurricane Katrina pendant to be a symbol of strength.
“In our rebirth, the city is very different. Sometimes bad things result in something good, and this was one of those times,” she said.
Love and compassion helped us get through the storm. Now 10 years later, gratitude is the attitude!
Mignon Faget is also selling stud pins with the “In Gratitude” symbol and drinking glasses.
