Metairie school on lock-down as police search for shooting suspect

METAIRIE, LA – School officials have confirmed that St. Philip Neri Catholic School is currently on lock-down, out of precaution for the students and staff.

Police are actively searching the area for 20-year-old Hassan Norris, who opened fire on officers attempting to conduct a routine traffic stop.

Officers say the suspect was speeding on Power Blvd.

When they attempted to pull the vehicle over, the suspect abandoned the car and fled on foot down Riverside Drive.

Officers say the suspect fired one shot at an officer, thankfully no one was hit.

The suspect then disappeared into the Riverside Court Condominiums.
