Cyclist dies after he was struck by taxi in CBD

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the death of a man who died after he was struck by a taxi while riding his bicycle in the Central Business District.

Police said Ronald Alexander, 58, was riding his bicycle on Camp Street in the Central Business District the afternoon of Monday, May 23. He was struck by a taxi cab that was driving on Poydras Street.

NOPD spokesman Tyler Gamble said he doesn’t know when Alexander died. He said no citations have been issued and no arrests have been made.

The death is still under investigation, New Orleans police said.
