UPDATE: The coroner’s office in East Baton Rouge Parish confirmed that the body found in a ditch is the teacher who was missing, according to WBRZ.

BATON ROUGE – (WGNO) Authorities are working to identify a badly decomposed body of a woman discovered in a ditch Tuesday morning near Grosse Tete.

WBRZ reports the body was found by farmer workers on Rosedale Road north of I-10 in Iberville Parish.

Baton Rouge police say they must process the scene and send the body to the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office, but that it could be Lyntell Washington, a teacher who went missing last week.

Search parties looked for Washington last weekend, but activity was suspended on Monday.

No one has been charged with her disappearance. WBRZ reports that Washington’s boyfriend does face charges relating to Washington’s child, who was found in a Baton Rouge parking lot last week.
