Body found in burning vehicle in Desire neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – New Orleans firefighters found a badly burned body this afternoon while responding to a truck fire in the Desire neighborhood.

According to a news release from NOFD, firefighters responded to a vehicle fire about 1:40 p.m. in the 3100 block of Industry Street.

They found a Ford pick-up truck had struck a utility pole and was fully engulfed in flames.

While putting out the fire, they found the body of an adult in the front driver’s seat, but the victim’s body was burned too badly to determine the age or gender.

NOPD said the death is being investigated as a homicide. NOPD did not release any additional information.
