NEW ORLEANS(WGNO) – For the 20th year in a row, Cash Money Records returns to New Orleans to hand out free turkeys Thanksgiving week.

Cash Money Records co-founders, brothers Ronald “Slim” Williams and Bryan “Birdman” Williams, started a turkey giveaway in 1996 for New Orleans families in need at Thanksgiving.

The brothers started Cash Money Records in New Orleans, signing notable rappers such as Lil’ Wayne, and experienced international success.

“It means the world to me to come home and do this, because it really started because we didn’t have anything growing up and once I got a chance, and I got money, giving back became one of my things,” said  “Birdman” Williams.  “I do it from my heart because I was one of these youngsters that was once lost and didn’t have anything.”

Walmart supplied turkeys for donation, with sides and stuffing donated by Sam’s Club.

Ochsner also teamed up with Cash Money Records to provide free health screenings from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
