NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – If you’re still recovering from New Year’s Eve, you’re not alone.

Friday’s chilly weather found many folks warming up at a bar, despite resolutions to “drink less.”

Other promises overheard include “going to the gym more,” and “eating better.”

Bartender Kevan Gurley, of Lucky’s Bar, Grill and Laundromat on St. Charles Avenue, says he’s going to eat more salads. But his advice for anyone who’s still hungover? Go for the Pho! Vietnamese Pho soup, that is.

“That’s the hangover cure pretty much, just a big bowl of that with any sort of meat they have in it. A big bowl of broth with a little Sriracha hot sauce to break everything up,” says Gurley.

He also recommends stretching, even if you don’t feel like getting out of bed or off the couch.

“You want the blood to flow. Because if it stops flowing and you stay stagnant, you’re just gonna hurt all day,” says Gurley.

At Patrick’s Bar Vin in the French Quarter, the bar’s namesake says H2O will lead you on the path to recovery.

“Water is the key- drink a lot of water. If fact, that’s gonna be my resolution – to drink more water in 2016,” says owner Patrick Van Hoorebeek.

Van Hoorebeek also shared his secret tip for “preventing” a hangover:

“I eat anchovies and a scoop of olive oil before I start to drink,” says Van Hoorebeek.

And after a tough night, both Gurley and Van Hoorebeek agree on the best drink to launch you into the next phase of celebrating: the Bloody Mary.
