NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- This Saturday is a special awards show at the Saenger Theater.  The NOLA Music Awards and we got to hear all about it from Rob Nice, the show’s host.

Says Nice, “The NOLA Music Awards is an awards show that’s going to be happening October 24th right here in New Orleans and it’s going to recognize the best of the best right here from the city that has been responsible for a lot of genres of music.”

This year’s show will also include a host of tributes.  “We’ll recognize the likes of Juvenile, who went across the world with one of his albums.  We’re also gonna recognize local legends like Ms. Tee and the legends that, I’m gonna be so honored to be a part of Kermit Ruffins as well as Fats Domino,” according to Nice.

The NOLA Music Awards has also transformed from past years.  According to Nice, “Its been known as the NOLA Hip Hop Awards, but of course if you do your history and just look back through history and from decades ago you’ll see that a lot of stuff came from New Orleans and to have Fats Domino in the building is a testament to that statement to say that we can’t go any further without know where we come from.”
