NEW ORLEANS, La. (WGNO) – The second GiveNOLA Day – a community-wide, 24-hour online giving day hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) – is on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
With 571 participating nonprofits this year, GNOF hopes to raise $3 million from 25,000 donors. GiveNOLA Day shattered all goals in its inaugural year and raised $2.2 million for 309 participating nonprofits from more than 19,600 generous donors.
“The generosity of this community is astounding, and we look forward to helping raise $3 million for area nonprofits,” said Albert Ruesga, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “On this one day of giving, we encourage everyone to visit GiveNOLA.org to support one or more of the great nonprofits working tirelessly in our community. This day helps make our region a more vibrant place to live.”
The community is encouraged to log on to www.givenola.org to give $10 or more to nonprofits throughout GNOF’s 13- parish region, which includes: Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington.
All donations made through www.givenola.org go directly to participating nonprofits working on a broad range of issues, including: arts & culture, animals, community improvement, education, environment, health, housing, human services, public safety & crime, and youth development.
Every donation made on GiveNOLA Day will be amplified on this one day of giving through national funds and a local pool of incentive dollars for participating organizations. GNOF does not collect any fees from contributions in order for the nonprofit organizations to receive the maximum benefit. GiveNOLA Day is tied to a national event called Give Local America where community foundations across America ask their communities to give back on May 5, 2015.
