NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— An investigation began Wednesday (Oct. 26) night into a homicide in the Plum Orchard neighborhood.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to the 4700 block of Francisco Verrett Drive. Just after 9 p.m., a woman arrived at the hospital by private vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers say the woman died after his arrival. No further details are available at this time but the NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information in order to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
