One dead, another injured in Central City shooting, NOPD reports

UPDATE — The New Orleans Coroner has identified the victim in this shooting as 38-year-old George Finney. The preliminary cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.

There is still no word on a suspect or motive in this incident.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NOPD reported another fatal shooting in Central City on Sunday.

Hours after a man was killed in the 6800 block of East Coronet Court, officers were on the scene at an incident in the 2300 block of Josephine Street.   According to an updated report from the NOPD, at around 5:02 p.m., the “Young Men Olympian” Social Aid and Pleasure Club Annual Parade was ending when officers on detail heard and responded to shots fired at the location.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims, including a 67-year-old woman suffering from a single gunshot wound to her face and a 38-year-old man suffering from multiple bullet wounds.
