NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— The New Orleans Police Department began investigating a homicide in Algiers near the Mississippi River Trail on Friday around 3 p.m.

According to police, the incident happened in the 100 block of Huntlee Drive.

Initial reports show a male suffered from a gunshot wound.

The victim, later identified as 20-year-old Sean Cox, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have not yet determined a suspect or motive in the shooting.
