AVONDALE, La. (WGNO) – A 20-year-old Avondale man was sentenced today to 10 years in prison after admitting to possessing and distributing child pornography.
Taylor Bourgeois will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years, beginning on the day he is released from prison, according to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office
Authorities began investigating Bourgeois in February, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office that Bourgeois talked about raping a 4-year-old girl. He made those comments in an online forum.
Detectives searched Bourgeois’ home March 7 and found a computer and two cellular devices – along with six potted marijuana plants in a cardboard box and a 5.2-gram bag of marijuana.
Investigators said they found images of infants and girls under 13 years old being raped by adult men.
Bourgeois, who worked at an ice cream parlor in Westwego, confessed to downloading and possessing child pornography, which was stored on a cellular device, and to sharing several hundred images and videos through a file sharing website, according to the report.
