NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NOPD has arrested 21-year-old Euric Cain for Attempted First Degree Murder, Second Degree Kidnapping and Armed Robbery.  The incident took place November 20, 2015, in the 1000 block of Saint Mary Street.

Around 4:00 a.m., video surveillance captured the suspect dragging a woman to his nearby parked SUV. Seconds later, 25-year-old Peter Gold drove up and attempted to assist the woman at which point the suspect pointed a gun at him and demanded money. Gold explained to the suspect that he did not have any money. The suspect then became enraged and shot Gold once in the stomach and attempted to shoot him a second time, but the gun jammed. Afterward, the suspect took the woman’s purse and fled the area in a grey or silver SUV.

EMS transported both victims to the hospital. The woman was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released. Gold remains in the hospital.

Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Cain around 11:30 this morning at a home in the 2200 block of Delechaise.
