Wanted: U.S. Senator Who Has Read The LA Constitution

President Obama and his sophomoric “gun control” zombies were denied their pound of flesh yesterday when the United States Senate voted 56-44 AGAINST what was called the Toomey-Manchin “compromise” and 60-40 against the Dianne Feinstein Gun Grab Act of 2013. “Oh No You Didn’t Do Dat” Senator Mary Landrieu certainly did, voting for Toomey-Manchin because it was a “balanced approach that would reduce gun violence and make it much harder for criminals and mentally ill individuals to access guns.(1)”

Never mind that the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, originally understood, FORBIDS “Do-Dat” bots like Landrieu from obeying their zombie master and “regulating militias”. But, the second Amendment to the LOUISIANA Constitution declares this State’s rights to exercise exclusive legislation over guns and militia. Article I, Section 11 of this state’s Constitution(2) now reads “The right of each citizen to keep and bear arms is fundamental and shall not be infringed. Any restriction on this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny” which carries with it the pre-conception that the state is sovereign and can enforce AND protect this right. What part of that doesn’t Senator “Do Dat” understand?

And if that’s not clear enough for her, just this week, the Louisiana Manufactured Firearms and Ammunition Act was introduced in Baton Rouge(3). I may have my quarrels with this state, or any other, restating what is already constitutional law but I commend the effort to educate the Landrieu family and editorial boards of the state’s newspapers: this state has never granted any authority whatever to Landrieu and her 55 co-conspirators in the U.S. Senate to regulate any part of our arms trade.

Besides the fact that Senators are supposed to serve the political interests of their state, whose people are overwhelmingly demanding they be protected from those wielding the deadly weapons of a Big Brother. Come next November, Senator Landrieu will be reminded “that she did do ‘dat” when she becomes citizen Landrieu.
