NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) -  They've traveled from around the world to meet in New Orleans. And the reason is one name - Nancy Drew.

They're fans and fanatics about Nancy Drew.  They love the books.  They love the life.

WGNO News with a Twist features reporter Wild Bill Wood is at the Nancy Drew Sleuths Convention in New Orleans.

The conventioneers delve deep into Nancy Drew's mysterious history.  They collect vintage books.

And they're donating a set of the classic books to the New Orleans Public Library's main branch on Loyola Avenue in the CBD.

That's where Wild Bill finds them diving into subjects like The Mysterious History Behind Nancy Drew, On the Case: Collecting Vintage Nancy Drew Books, Animating Nancy Drew - A look at the Nancy Drew Cartoon That Never Happened.

In New Orleans, the sleuths want to walk in Nancy Drew's footsteps.

They pick a theme book from one of the classic 56 hardcover Nancy Drew books printed between 1930 and 1979.

They choose a real location and then they do things Nancy Drew and her friends would have done in that same place.

They say they don't really "chase villains down dark alleys or sleuth for secret passageways", but they do manage to have a very good time with a character who's been a bestseller in books since 1930.
