Hey y'all! In our latest Devour Power segment, we ventured out to Laplace to visit the fine folks at the Donut Hole (421 W Airline Hwy Laplace, LA) to talk about pastries, breakfast and kolaches.

That's right kolaches.

Now I know that some of you may be asking "What's a kolaches?" Well, it is a savory breakfast pastry. Some kolaches are as simple as a pig in a blanket and some are loaded up with eggs, cheese, hash browns, sausage and even jalapenos. They are quite popular in Texas, but probably not so well-known here. Let me tell you, after sampling some from the Donut Hole, they should be.

Donut Hole owner Jim Planetta tells me that his foray into the world of kalachies started because of demand from out of the area business clients.  You see, Jim would cater events at the local refineries in the River Parishes. Oil folks from Texas liked Jim's donuts and pastries, but longed for their beloved kolaches. So, Jim started creating the tasty concoctions and the rest is history.

So if you find yourself in Laplace, and you're looking for a delicious and unique breakfast treat stop by the Donut Hole in Laplace. You won't regret it.
