NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – For the next 13 weeks, you should notice more art around town.  It’s all part of Prospect New Orleans and  “Prospect. 3: Notes for Now”, an International Arts Biennial showcasing works all over the city.

There are 58 artists from all around the world whose works are being displayed in 18 spots in New Orleans.   Artistic Director, Franklin Sirmans selected the artists.

“Icon” by New York based artist, Will Ryman is one piece that is in City Park behind the New Orleans Museum of Art.    “Icon” is Ryman’s interpretation of a giant red rose.   The sculpture is surrounded by a rose garden.

“I hope people stop to look at it when they are walking riding their bike, or driving by,”  Executive Director, Brooke Davis Anderson said.

“Prospect. 3: Notes for Now” also known as P3 raised 4-million dollars to provide contemporary art for free to partners and the public until January.

“Icon” will be on loan in City Park for the next two years.

“It’s meant to bring you pleasure, but you can’t overlook the fact that roses have thorns, like many things there is a duality,”  she said.

“Prospect. 3” is already off to a good start.

“Prospect. 1 was new and struggled a bit financially, but with Prospect. 3 we have a new administrative team and our funding is right on target,”  she said.
