Prospect.3 Notes for Now, the international contemporary art biennial featuring 58 contemporary artists from around the world, will be opening to the public on Saturday, Oct. 25th.

The festivities will kick off at 11:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and second line parade at Washington Square Park, located at 700 Elysian Fields Ave.

Immediately following, Mrs. Leah Chase, Prospect New Orleans board member and owner of Dooky Chase`s Restaurant will host a luncheon for all in the park.

The grand opening festivities will conclude on Sunday, October 26 at 1 p.m. with Notes for Now: A Panel Discussion, featuring contributors to the Prospect 3 catalog.

Each artist will be offered a dedicated space to exhibit at one of 18 venues across the city, with a number of artists commissioned to produce site-specific projects.

This will be the third iteration of the biennial since Prospect.1 in 2008

Expected to generate $5-10 million in economic activity during the exhibition`s thirteen-week run.
Prospect 3 Artistic Director Franklin Sirmans:
He is the Terri and Michael Smooke Department Head and Curator of Contemporary Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), where he has organized various different installations and exhibits

From 2006 to 2010, Sirmans was the curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Menil Collection in Houston, TX, where he organized exhibitions

Sirmans was the 2007 recipient of the David C. Driskell Prize awarded by the High Museum of Art, Atlanta.
Prior to 2006, Sirmans held editorial positions at Dia Center for the Arts, Flash Arts Magazine, and Art Asia Pacific.
