Seems like everybody’s on the go these days, so grab & go coffee drinks are more popular than ever!  But many can loaded with more sugary calories than a candy bar or a donut, so it pays to check labels first!  In today’s Get the Skinny, Molly shows us 5 grab & go coffee drinks, and who each one is best suited for.

Illy Issimo Caffe No Sugar Low Calorie Coffee Drink.

5 calories and 0 sugar per can.  It’s essentially just coffee.  No added sugars, no artificial sweeteners.

A good fit for anyone looking for a quick pick-me-up.

Coffee concentrate mixed with a ready-made protein drink.

It takes one extra step to mix the coffee concentrate with the protein drink, but as long as you opt for a protein drink that’s low in sugar (our favorite is New Orleans-based all-natural ICONIC), you’ll have a protein-rich, low-sugar iced coffee.

Perfect for anyone looking to keep added sugars in check, also can pull double-duty as a grab & go breakfast or snack, or an accompaniment to any meal or snack.

Starbucks Frappuccino Light chilled coffee (100 calories, 11 grams sugar, 6 grams protein per bottle)

& Genesis Today’s Skinny Coffee (130 calories, 14 grams sugar, 7 grams protein per carton).

Both have about twice as much sugar as protein, but it’s still a fraction of the sugar of many other grab & go coffee drinks.  These drinks are a good compromise for people looking for something healthier than the usual bottled coffee drinks, but aren’t ready to make the leap to pure espresso or protein-drink-iced-coffees.

Bolthouse Farms Blended Coffee Protein Plus.

380 calories, 48 grams sugar, and 32 grams protein per 15.2-ounce bottle.

Coffee and low-fat milk are the first two ingredients, but it still has far more sugar than most weight-conscious people are looking for, or need.

These blended coffee drinks can be a great fit for those who are simply looking for a pick-me-up and aren’t worried about added sugars, and they’re especially a good option for people who are simply looking for ways to add more calories and protein, since they offer the protein equivalent of nearly 5 ounces of lean meat.
