The Duck Derby and Festival benefits the St. Tammany Humane Society.  “Adopting” a rubber duck can help save an animal’s life.  One rubber duck costs $5.  And every duck that you “adopt” enters you into a drawing where the top prize is $1,000 in cash.  There will also be live music from Big Al & the Heavyweights.

For more information about the Duck Derby, how you can “adopt” a duck, and the other prizes that you can win, please visit their website.

Eugene is a 2-year-old American Staffordshire terrier mix.  He was part of a large unwanted litter and was brought to the Humane Society when I was little.  He was adopted by a very sweet older lady, who took the best care of him, but she became ill and could no longer care for him.  Now he’s back at the shelter looking again for his forever home.  He is a very affectionate, happy-go-lucky boy.  Every day he hopes that he will be able to find is forever home.  He sees the other dogs around him getting adopted, but for some reason he is always left behind.  He is housebroken and gets along with other dogs too.  Eugene is available for adoption through the St. Tammany Humane Society.
