Michaela joined WGNO in May 2021 after reporting news and anchoring sports for about a year in Laredo Texas for KGNS News. In the Gateway City, she covered all of Webb County and during the Texas power crisis and pandemic, she focused on how the people in the Colonias and outskirts of town were being affected.
On weekends she would spend her time on the field or court covering high school and TAMIU Athletics.
She graduated from New Mexico State University in May 2020 with her degree in Journalism and a Minor in Marketing and Advertising.
During her time at NMSU, she also gained experience as a sports anchor for her University’s News 22, which was a live broadcast that aired in Las Cruces. During her summers she gained additional experience in her hometown Albuquerque New Mexico at KOAT and in El Paso Texas for KTSM.
While she wasn’t in the studio or class she was on the track or trail competing for the Aggies Cross Country and track team.
In her free time, Michaela loves to travel, work out, and spend time with loved ones. She is interested in anything to do with music, dancing, food, and the outdoors.
