    New Orleans – The NOPD is investigating a shooting in New Orleans East that left a man wounded. Officers were called to the intersection of Dwyer and Foch Roads after 1 a.m. Wednesday. A male victim was taken to the hospital by EMS. No word on his condition.

  • 4-year-old girl dies in accidental shooting in Chalmette

    CHALMETTE, La.– The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accidental shooting death of a four-year-old girl. Deputies were called to a home in 500 block of Pierre Street in Chalmette around 9:30 p.m. Thursday and found a girl who had been shot.  She was taken to University Medical Center where she later died. A handgun believed to be used in the shooting was found. Sheriff James Pohlmann says the shooting appears to be accidental.

    Man stabbed to death in Lower Ninth Ward

    New Orleans – Police are investigating a deadly stabbing in the Lower Ninth Ward. Officers were called to the 2400 block of Forstall Street just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday. They found a 33-year-old man in the grassy area of a vacant lot, stabbed multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.   • Teen reported missing from Algiers

    New Orleans – Police are looking for a teenager reported missing from Algiers. Police say Zanaya Hayes, 17, was last seen by a relative on June 9 around 7:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Mansfield Drive. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since then. Anyone with information is asked to call any Fourth District officer at (504) 658-6040 or 911.

  • 1 killed in Uptown car crash

    New Orleans – One person died in a car crash in Uptown on Sunday night. Police say the crash happened in the 50 block of Versailles Boulevard, near Claiborne Avenue, around 7:30 p.m. There was only one person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. That person was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not said what led up to the crash.

    New Orleans – Police have identified the man they say is responsible for a 2017 triple shooting in Algiers. Laymon Hayes, 21, is five feet seven inches tall and weighs about 150 lbs. On May 17, 2017, three people were shot in the 5200 hundred block of Timber Haven Lane. Officers found one man shot to death inside a car. Two other people later died at the hospital.   • Search for driver underway after motorcyclist is hit, killed on I-10 in New Orleans East

    New Orleans – Police are searching for a driver after a motorcyclist was hit and killed on I-10 in New Orleans East on Sunday night. Investigators say the 53-year-old victim was hit while riding on I-10 westbound at Bullard Avenue at about 9:54 p.m. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and later died at the scene. The driver of the unidentified vehicle drove off. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

  • Police investigate homicide in Fairgrounds neighborhood

    New Orleans – Police are investigating a shooting in the Fairgrounds neighborhood that left a man dead. Officers were called to the 2700 block of Bruxelles Street around 4:30 p.m. Sunday and found a man lying in the driveway with several gunshot wounds, including  a gunshot to the head. He was later pronounced dead. Investigators have not released a description of the suspect or a motive.

    New Orleans – All New Orleans Public Library locations are closed Friday, May 11, 2018. It’s due to staff training. All locations except the Main Library will reopen on Saturday, May 12. The Main Library is undergoing renovations on the 1st and 2nd floors. It is closed through Sunday, May 20.

  • Man killed in Algiers shooting

    New Orleans – Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Algiers. Officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting call around 10 p.m. Monday in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive. Police found a 20-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information has been released.

  • Sun Country Airlines to start new service between New Orleans and Minneapolis

    New Orleans – Sun Country Airlines says it plans to start flying between New Orleans (MSY) and Minneapolis (MSP) later this year. The seasonal non-stop flights will be offered between September 6 and December 16. Schedules can be found on the airline’s website. Sun Country is offering introductory fares for as low as $89 one-way. The Minnesota-based airline flies to more than 40 destinations across the U.S., Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean.
