Firefighters battling barge fire on Mississippi River in Jefferson Parish

Firefighters were on the scene of a large barge fire, loaded with scrap cars, on the Mississippi River near the Huey P. Long Bridge.

The fire broke out around 11:30 a.m.

The New Orleans Coast Guard says no one was injured.

Responders from Sector New Orleans are on scene to evaluate the potential for pollution.
