NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The NOPD has arrested a man in connection to this morning’s triple shooting in New Orleans East.

Kerry François, Sr., 33, has been arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated battery by shooting.

Police believe François and his wife, who the NOPD did not name in a press release about the incident, were inside a convenience store in the 6700 block of Chef Menteur Highway this morning just after 6 a.m.

François’ wife got into an argument with the 45-year-old owner of the store over a refund. François and his wife were escorted outside by the owner, who was armed with a handgun.

After getting behind the wheel of his car and beginning to pull away from the store, François apparently changed his mind, emerging from his vehicle brandishing his own handgun.

François opened fire from the parking lot into the store, striking the store owner in the leg, a 61-year-old man in the buttocks, and a 74-year-old man in the knee.

All three shooting victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The store owner never fired his weapon, according to the NOPD.
