Fire destroys two bars on Tulane Avenue

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - It took 75 firefighters and 24 fire trucks to put out a fire that started at two bars on Tulane Avenue this afternoon.

According to NOFD, a passing firefighter noticed smoke coming from Bar Culture and Reinas Bar about 12:15 p.m. Friday. Both bars are on Tulane Avenue near Carrollton.

The area was quickly filled with smoke from the four-alarm fire, and neighborhing Crystal Inn hotel was evacuated as a precaution.

No one was injured in the fire. It took about two-and-a-half hours to extinguish.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
