NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - A tornado watch has been issued for almost the entire viewing area (Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes have been removed since the threat has passed) until noon as a line of strong storms continues to push across the state.

The storms will arrive in the New Orleans metro area just in time for the morning commute around 9 am bringing heavy rains and the threat for an isolated tornado, damaging straight-line winds over 70mph and large hail. We expect the storms to leave our viewing area around 11am to noon.

Once the storms pass through, expect clearing skies and falling temperatures throughout the afternoon. The Northshore will see temperatures in the 30s overnight and 40s are expected on the Southshore.
