NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Two carjackings occurred within minutes of each other shortly after 11 p.m. yesterday, and each incident turned into a nightmare for the victims.

The first carjacking, on the corner of Canal Street and North Claiborne, quickly developed into a scary situation for the unnamed victim, who was sitting in his 2015 Honda Civic when two men approached, one on either side of the car.

The man on the passenger side climbed in, sat down, pointed a gun at the victim, and told him to get out, according to initial reports by the NOPD.

When the victim was exiting his car, the man on the driver’s side got behind the wheel and began to drive off, dragging the victim approximately 10 feet. The NOPD didn’t list any injuries in the incident.

Minutes later, on the corner of Spain and North Derbigny Streets, a woman was sitting in her car when a man tapped on the driver’s side window with a handgun.

The armed man ordered the victim to move into the passenger seat, and three more men climbed into the vehicle.

The four men then drove the victim around in her car, eventually getting into a wreck on Interstate 10 near Airline. They left the victim on the scene of that accident and drove away in her damaged car.

No injuries were reported in that incident either.
