Armed Robbery

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The NOPD is investigating an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery that happened just minutes apart on South Claiborne last night.

The first incident happened at 7:05 p.m. when an unidentified subject walked into Diamond Beauty Supply in the 2100 block of S. Claiborne and demanded money, according to NOPD reports.

That robbery was thwarted when one employee locked the register and hit the panic button while a second employee called the police.

The man implied that he had a gun, but fled empty handed when he realized police were on the way.

The second incident happened seven minutes later and just under half a mile down the road at the It’s Fashion store on S. Claiborne.

An unidentified man walked into that location, implied that he had a gun, and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The NOPD said both incidents are under investigation and every avenue is being examined, including possible relation between the incidents.
