(WGNO) –¬†No more creepy clowns at Target and now no more “suicide scar” makeup kit at Walmart after customers¬†decided the kit was “inappropriate.”

The “razor blade suicide scar wound latex costume make up” kit was sold online for $3.99.

According to ABC7 News The “inappropriateness” of the kit went viral on social media with several posts:

  1. “Hi Walmart, I would like to know which part of this is a suitable costume for anyone. Self harm isn’t a ‘scary costume’ for all to wear.”
  2. “This is disgusting that Walmart would attempt to sell this; trying to push SUICIDE AS A COSTUME. Mental illness is no joke.”
  3. Self harm scars aren’t something fun to add to a costume. Self harm is the result of an abundance of self hatred and mental health issues.”

In response, Walmart issued this statement:

“This costume is appalling and it was unacceptable for a third-party seller to list it on our marketplace. It clearly violated our prohibited items policy and we removed it when it was brought to our attention.”

The third-party seller listed for the suicide scar was BlockBuster Costumes, LLC.

Walmart.com continues to list other costumes from that company.
