MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO)- October is breast cancer awareness month, and this week cancer survivors will strut their strength in a fashionable way!  News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez  will be the emcee for this Thursday's "Rock The Runway" cancer survivor fashion show and brings us this story!

All of these women really know how to rock and roll with life's difficulties like cancer.  They are all rock stars, literally.  They made a rock video that'll be shown at the "You Night Empowering Events: Rock The Runway" cancer survivor show this week.   The show was created to give the opportunity for them to strut their strength and rock out.

"This gives them an opportunity to overcome and do something that scares them.  It shows them they can really do anything they set their minds to," Lisa McKenzie, Founder of You Night Empowering Events, said.

These women say that on their journey, they've recognized the true instruments in their lives like God, their family, and friends.

This moment for them is important because it's sadly inevitable that there will be day where they don't feel like rock stars.

"There have been many painful, long days.  I need to feel important.  I need to feel, normal to help fight this battle.  You Night makes me feel normal.  I don't smile all the time, but I'm smiling today, and I feel normal,"  Toni Henry, You Night rock star said.

The "Rock The Runway" show is at 6 p.m. this Thursday, Oct. 20th at The Castine Center in Mandeville.
