NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Embattled former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin has lost his final appeal to the nation’s highest court.

The U.S. Supreme Court denied Nagin’s attempt to have his corruption conviction thrown out.

Nagin’s lawyers had challenged the lower court’s jury instructions, along with part of Nagin’s sentence.

Back in January, that appeal was rejected by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Nagin is currently serving a 10 year prison sentence for a number of federal charges including bribery, wire fraud and tax fraud.
