St. Bernard student teacher booked for inappropriately touching elementary student

MERAUX, La. (WGNO) — A St. Bernard Parish student teacher has been arrested for inappropriately touching an elementary school student on the outside of the clothing.

According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Remy Ferrell, 24, was arrested after several parents alerted Joseph Davies Elementary staff about their concerns on Thursday (October 6). The school administrators then reported the possible misconduct to the SBPSO.

Sheriff James Pholmann said Ferrell was taken from the school for questioning.

He was booked on one count of felony sexual battery.

The investigation is ongoing and more counts may follow.

Ferrell is being held at the St. Bernard Parish Prison. He is scheduled to go before a magistrate judge Friday to have bond set.

Ferrell is an undergraduate at a college. He has been student teaching at Joseph Davies Elementary since August.
