Los Angeles woman busted at New Orleans Amtrak station with $187K worth of crystal meth

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A Los Angeles woman was arrested this morning at Union Passenger Terminal in New Orleans for having 5.3 pounds of crystal meth.

According to Louisiana State Police, tips led multiple law enforcement agencies to the Amtrak station, where they arrested 27-year-old Carmen Ochoa for carrying $187,000 worth of methamphetamine.

State Police worked with Amtrak, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, NOPD and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office on the big bust.

Ochoa was booked into the Orleans Parish Jail for possession with intent to distribute schedule II controlled dangerous substances.
