JEFFERSON, La. (WGNO) – Deputies in Jefferson Parish have arrested the man accused of robbing a 62-year-old woman outside of a business, then throwing her to the ground and fracturing her hip.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded about 7 a.m. Friday (Sept. 23) to a purse-snatching outside of Baker’s Dozen on Jefferson Highway.

The victim told deputies she was about to get tinto her vehicle when a man approached her and grabbed the wallet that was in her hand.

She struggled with the suspect, who then overpowered her and threw her to the ground before grabbing her wallet and fleeing on foot.

The victim sustained a fractured hip and will require surgery.

The woman’s wallet was found in the area where the robbery occurred, and DNA found on the wallet was linked to 47-year-old Ronald Wallace of Jefferson. Wallace is a convicted felon who is on probation for distribution of cocaine.
